gramma's spring garden

One of the many luscious pots of pansies that Kieran and Gramma planted.
Blooming magnolia tree in April. See the bare
ground under the tree -- and then look at the Kafka
picture a few weeks later at the red and white
flowers.

Hanging baskets take off in May. Watch them overflow during the summer!

I love the bright green of new fern growth.              Kafka at sunset watching flies - May 21.
Watch it darken over the summer May 21.

Here are two new plants for the front door. The pansies were stunning and lush for 2 months but then they got tired and "leggy."  I replanted the pots with a mixture of geraniums, marigolds, heliotrope and some trailing flowers that will go over the edges.  We'll see how they do -- May 28.

Some photos from June 15 - two weeks after the above, and 1 week before summer officially begins! I did a good pruning of shrubs and ferns end of May so flowers underneath could get light and space.

the little Japanese maple from Nancy has taken over the house! it makes a great canopy of shade and privacy in the front room during the summer, and covered in twinkly lights in winter.
